I'm not exactly the most experienced when it comes to styling wigs, but I'm learning as I go! And I thought I would share my (little) knowledge with y'all C:
2) Got2B hairspray and spiking gel (WALMART :D)
3) Wig (EBAY!!!)
4) Disposable Cup
7) Styrofoam wig head
9) Thread the same colour as your wig C:
(I'm also giving you a lovely tour of my now clean bathroom, I'm pretty sure there's still blue dye around...)
First I took a section of hair from near the top of the wig, that hung down in the direction I wanted the antenna to go. Then I took a small rubber band (it was from my braces) and pony tailed that small piece.
Then I pinned this paper cup (isn't it pretty xD) through my wig and into the wig head in the place where I wanted my ahoge to uhm... live?
Make sure you position the hair on the cup into a nice and tidy-like piece. Mine was kinda messy... Welp.
SPRAY DA SHIT OUTTA THIS SUCKA.
BUT BE CAREFUL. You want the wig hair to stay neat (so your ahoge looks nice) and natural C: You can kind of adjust the wig hair after it's been sprayed, but it's sticky D:
I personally didn't spray ALL of it. I sprayed more of the base (a lot) and then like the arc up (not as much) and a little bit of the down (very little). But I left the end like 1/3 of the antenna unsprayed.
Seriously let it dry. OR ELSE.
Anyways. MORNING AFTER<3 Take off the cup and you kinda have this little droopy sucker. Take your needle and thread (that is as close as your wig colour as possible) and knot the sucker. Start underneath the wig and pull the thread through and begin knotting it around and around just a little under where your rubber band is lying.
Every now and then after going around a few times, sew the makeshift band (the thing you're sewing) back in the opposite direction of in which the ahoge is going. That doesn't really make much sense D: But like... Think of it as thread pulling the antenna straight up by sewing it into the wefts of the wig c:
After you feel it is strong and where you want your antenna to be, knot your thread MILLIONS of times underneath the wefts and cut the thread.
Then cut off the rubber band that is currently on the stupid little antenna. It should stay perfectly in place due to your makeshift band :D (SPRAY IT AGAIN FOR GOOD MEASURE)
After this, take some of your spiking gel and put a little tiny bit JUST on the end of your ahoge<3 That gives it that perfect point c: If you have really shitty looking pieces (due to not keeping it neat), just cut that
I'm really not good at this whole specific tutorial thing, I usually like to do vague overviews...
You can always pin the cup back down and respray this sucker if your antenna begins to look a little droopy (it tends to do that after a full day at a con).
